Love You Too by Stacy Travis is a heartwarming second-chance romance that centers around Beatrix "Trix" and Dominick Renaldi (Ren), former college sweethearts whose courtship imploded a decade prior when Ren decided to leave for Canada to pursue a career in the NHL, leaving Trix to pick up the pieces of her heart and move on.
After years apart, they unexpectedly reconnect during a chance meeting in a parking lot, involving a charming and over excited pup named Truman, reigniting emotions they thought had long burnt out. The chemistry between Trix and Ren is undeniable, and their renewed connection quickly becomes impossible to ignore.
What begins as a casual encounter of attempts to swat away any remaining feelings, soon turns into something far more complex when a one-night stand results in an unplanned pregnancy. Suddenly, both Trix and Ren are forced to confront the realities of their past and the daunting challenges of their future. Trix, a driven career woman who often neglects her own needs in favor of running her business, must reevaluate her fast-paced lifestyle and learn to slow down. Meanwhile, Ren grapples with balancing the demands of soon-to-be fatherhood, maintaining a relationship with Trix, and continuing his professional hockey career with sheer focus.
The ever-present doubt running through Love You Too feels raw and real, adding layers of emotion to the story.
Ren and Trix’s intense reconnection is beautifully messy, their love as strong as ever despite the years apart. Stacy Travis captures Ren’s struggles with anxiety, the pressure to be perfect weighing heavily on him, while Trix is the one who unravels him effortlessly. She lives in his mind, breaking through the walls he's built, reminding him what it feels like to let go.
Trix’s journey is equally compelling. The pain of being abandoned by someone she trusted pushes her to pour everything into her career, working endlessly to prove her worth. But when an unexpected pregnancy enters the picture, she’s forced to slow down, take care of herself, and reevaluate her life. She gives Ren a choice: be there for her and their baby, or let her do it on her own. Ren chooses to stay, but doubt creeps in, leaving Trix wondering if he's truly in it for love or just out of a sense of duty.
The friction between them is raw, emotional, and full of tension, but beneath it all, their love has never truly faded. Even after a decade apart, it's like they were always meant to find their way back to each other. Travis beautifully portrays that no matter the time or distance, some connections are just unbreakable, and their story feels like it was always waiting to be rewritten.
