This book was breathtaking.
While it did feel longer than it was and read more like a dark version of a Jane Austen novel, Unmasking the Curse was hauntingly beautiful.
The book follows 25 year old Arianna Park who is plagued with an ancient curse, forcing her to either live trapped in her room or behind an enchanted porcelain mask if she chooses to walk around in public.
Feeling like she is nothing more than a burden to her loved ones as they struggle to make ends meet, Arianna believes the only way she can help her mother and sister from living in the slums is by agreeing to marry the despicable, deplorable, abusive man named Theo who only wants her as trophy.
On one particular day, Arianna runs into a handsome man named Silas.
Silas, a man full of secrets, is the only person who understands the suffering that Arianna is plagued with. Despite his best efforts, he is unable to keep away from this cursed woman and his affliction with her only grows stronger once he learns of who Arianna is betrothed to.
Everything about Unmasking The Curse was just remarkable. Chelle Cypress took this fantasy concept and turned it into something so unique and fresh. You felt so much emotion for the characters, especially for Arianna as she begins to come into her true self, and Silas as he realizes that he too, is not alone.
This isn't just a story about a girl with a curse, or a broken man, this is a story of taking your weakness and turning it into strength.

You can read Unmasking The Curse now!
